COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

Wednesday, June 3, 2009, 9:00am to 12:30pm
$75, includes: city recovery tour, transportation, comfort kit supplies and snacks

Each year USFN has hosted a charity golf tournament with the proceeds benefiting local organizations.  This year we are giving back in a different way, through our first annual Community Service Project being offering in conjunction with the Loan Management & Servicing Seminar.

USFN is pleased to invite conference attendees to assist The Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the American Red Cross by helping create Comfort Kits.   In the event of a disaster, individuals are given a Comfort Kit consisting of simple necessities such as soap, toothpaste and other items.   In 2008, more than 3,000 Comfort Kits were distributed and the Red Cross needs more.

This project is not only a means to give back to our host city of New Orleans, it’s also a fun, interactive way to get to know your peers and do something for the community at the same time.

USFN volunteers will be transported to the Southeast Louisiana Chapter Red Cross headquarters where the Comfort Kits will be assembled.   On the way to the project, participants will be taken on a City Recovery Tour where you will be exposed to some of the areas that were hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina, like the Lower Ninth Ward where you will be able to see recovery projects such as Harry Connick Jr.'s Musicians Village, Habitat for Humanity's projects, and Brad Pitt's "Make It Right" houses.

Cost to participate in this worthwhile event is $75 per person. Be sure to sign up at conference registration and support this wonderful project. Space is limited.
